KATHMANDU:- Different organizations associated with media persons have stated that their serious attention was drawn to the forced leave and leave without payments and layoff of the media persons and the act of enforcing them to resign under the pretext of pandemic coronavirus infection by the media houses.
The organizations have also positively noted the efforts of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) to exert pressure on media houses asking them to stop such activities targeted against the working journalists.
Press Organization Nepal, Press Union Nepal, Federation of Revolutionary Journalists, Press Centre Nepal, Nepal Madhes Journalists Association among others issued the statement on Sunday agreeing to exert pressure by collaborating with the FNJ against the media houses’ move.
They have also urged all sides to abide by Working Journalist Act and come up with a humanitarian approach in the time of pandemic. They even have urged the government to announce relief package to the affected journalists.
