Massive fire breaks out in Nepal’s five-star Shangri-La hotel


KATHMANDU: A massive fire broke out at the casino inside the five-star Hotel Shangri-La located at Lazimpat, Kathmandu.

According to officials at the hotel, the fire started from the casino’s bar at around 4.15 pm and was brought under control by 6 pm.

Half a dozen fire engines, police, army personnel and firefighters took the fire under control after nearly one and half hour. According to the security guard, an electric short circuit at the casino’s bar is believed to have caused the fire.

The guests at the hotel were evacuated immediately after the fire broke out. The reason behind the fire has not been known as yet. The exact loss in the incident is yet to be ascertained.
