At a programme organized by Nepal Press Union, Chitwan Chapter at Narayangadh today, President Koirala said the country was heading backwards due to the sheer irresponsibility on part of the Maoist party.
Venting his ire on UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s views on leadership of the next government, NC President Koriala said it is not Maoist Chairman Dahal to determine which party would lead the next government.
“He has no right to make such irresponsible remarks. The Maoist is a party that reaches agreements but fails to implement them,” leader Koirala commented.
The recent activities of the Maoists have proved that it was working to capture state authority, he said, adding that no one was above the law.
Moreover, he said the Maoists won’t improve unless it abandoned the politics of weapon.
He urged the Maoist party to fully implement the past agreements.
The programme was organized to give away the Chijkumar Bishnu Kumari Shrestha National Journalism Award.
The award was conferred on senior journalists duo Harihar Birahi and Taranath Dahal.
The award carries a purse of Rs 25,555 each. It was set up in memory of then chairman of democratic fighters’ association, Chij Kumar Shrestha.RSS
