Man killed in APF firing in Jhapa, Nepal

Earlier there was a conflict between people in slaughtering an ox, the police had arrested two persons on the charge of slaughtering. Locals had protested while arrestees were being taken.

BIRTAMOD:– A local has died after an Armed Police Force opened fire at him in Jhapa Rural Municipality of Jhapa in eastern Nepal on Wednesday afternoon. He died while undergoing treatment in B&C hospital Birtamod.

He was shot in the stomach and was taken to B&C hospital for treatment. He was in severe condition, so he died in the course of treatment.

Earlier there was a conflict between people in slaughtering an ox, as killing an ox is a crime in Nepal.

The police had arrested two persons on the charge of slaughtering. Locals had protested while arrestees were being taken.

The APF says a crowd of over 200 persons attacked, which led them to open fire to control the crowd.

The deceased has been identified as Rasikul Alam(38), informs APF DIG Raju Aryal.
