Major three parties agree on five topics
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the principal leaders of the Nepali Congress, the CPN (UML) and the UCPN (Maoist) today agreed on five fundamental issues including forming the high-level political committees.
Nepali Congress General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula said the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence agreed after three days of discussions to constitute a high-level political committee comprising the top leaders of the three major parties to conclude the remaining works of the peace process and to assist the Constituent Assembly.
UCPN (Maoist) leader Post Bahadur Bogati said the meeting also decided to form a committee in the Lefgislature-Parliament to address the question raised by the UCPN (Maoist) regarding irregularities in the last Constituent Assembly election.
It has also been decided to pass a political resolution in the Constituent Assembly to own the works carried out by the erstwhile Constituent Assembly, leader Bogati said, adding that the parties would give the names of MPs by tomorrow (Friday) for constituting the parliamentary committees based on the agreement to draft the constitution in the stipulated time.
The meeting also decided to constitute a parliamentary committee to study the hike in the prices of petroleum products and essential commodities. RSS
