Mahantha Thakur hopeful for December polls

DHANGADHI: Although the Interim Election Government has not fixed the election date and the incumbent government marred into controversy, leaders of the political parties have been continuing their rhetoric that the election would take place in between November to December this year.

Speaking at a press meet in Dhangadhi on Tuesday Chairman of the Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Mahantha Thakur, also claimed that election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) would be held within mid-December at any cost.

Stating that the CA election is only the alternative for democracy, and for removing political uncertainty of the country, Thakur urged all to take part in the elections.

He expressed the belief that CPN-Maoist and other 32 parties, who have been opposing the poll held under the leadership of Chief Justice, will also participate in the CA election as talks are underway with the dissenting party.

Thakur also hinted the possibility of forming an alliance of Madhesi Morcha for the elections. He however said the issue has not materialized yet as they are still holding dialogue in this regard.

Saying that Madhesi Morcha will go for election united as far as possible, he said they will go for election by making an electoral front with those parties who address the demands of Madhesis if Madhesi Morcha does not go for election united.
