Leaders of Nepali Congress and UCPN-Maoist claims November election unavoidable

KATHMANDU: As the agitating parties have remained adamant that they would foil the elections of the constituent assembly, Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula has said that the incumbent election government would persist for four more years if parties start searching for its alternative.

“This government was formed to conduct the election, so, there can be no alternative to it. If we try to change it, it would persist for four more years,” said Sitaula. He also claimed that only the election government could replace the incumbent government.

Sitaula claimed that the parties could be flexible about most of the controversial issues except holding election on November 19, election government and mixed electoral model. He also made it clear that the four major political parties are ready to hold the round-table conference if the agitating parties agree on these three issues.

Sitaula notified that his party is ready for discussions on the round table meeting, reconstitution of the High Level Political Committee, extension of cabinet and so forth. He further said that he does not believe that CPN-Maoist would hamper the election that is being conducted to ensure the rights of the people.

Meanwhile, addressing a program in Arghakanchi, leader of UCPN-Maoist Top Bahadur Rayamajhi claimed that the elections of the Constituent Assembly would be held as per the schedule on November 19.

The former Minister claimed that the CA election would be held within the stipulated time as there was no alternative to it. He also claimed that some anti-election forces are active to foil the election to derail the democracy.

In a different context, Rayamajhi said that leader Baburam Bhattarai’s decision to resign as party Vice-Chairman was for promoting the notion that there is no need to adhere to certain posts to serve for the party. He also claimed that all problems would be resolved from the extended meeting of the party scheduled for July 19.

The former Minister claimed of bringing two-third majority at the upcoming CA election by collaborating with the parties having similar ideology.
