SYANAGJA:- Iman Singh Rana, 65, died in a landslide at Kaligandaki rural municipality-4, Khahare today. The landslide that occurred abruptly had buried five persons including Thapa while they were walking along. One of them had narrowly escaped the tragedy as he managed to run away before the landslide buried them.
Three are still missing in the debris of landslide and their search is underway, police said. Rana died while undergoing treatment at Birgha Health Post, police confirmed.
Injured Homnath Pandey, 68, and Bir Bahadur Rana, 55, of ward-4 are being treated at Birgha health post, shared Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the District Police Office Syangja, Rajendra Prasad Adhikari.
Kaligandaki rural municipality chair Khim Bahadur Thapa said preparation is underway to shift the families at risk of flood due to swollen rivulet nearby to safe locations.
