Landslide buries houses; two go missing in Eastern Nepal


UDAYAPUR: Two persons have gone missing when landslide buried two houses at Rautamai rural municipality, wards 1 and 8 in Udayapur district.
According to the District Police Office, Udayapur, landslide that occurred at Rautamai rural municipality-8 at 1.00 pm buried the house of local Rit Bahadur Ritthamagar.
Ranamaya Magar, 56, mother of Rit Bahadur, went disappeared when the landslide from cliff buried his house, said Bir Bahadur Budhamagar while quoting the family source.
Though police personnel were mobilized in the incident site the rescue team was struggling to reach the landslide-hit area, Budhamagar shared.
Likewise, landslide also took away the house of Arjun Tamang, a local of Rauta Murkuchi, at Rautamai rural municipality-1.
Police said his nine-year-old son want missing in the landslide, police confirmed.
Police Chief Budhamagar further informed that landslide has swept away around a dozen houses in Udayapur.
