Landslide buries 5 houses in Nawalparasi


NAWALPARASI: Landslides followed by incessant rainfall buried five houses in Naram VDC-4 of Nawalparasi district, on Friday morning.

The landslide occurred at around 9:00 am buried the house of Bhim Bahadur Makim, Human Singh Makim, Nar Bahadur Makim, Hom Bahadur Makim and Prem Singh Gelang Magar in Purano Naram of the VDC, said local Humnath Pandey.

Rekhi Maya Makim (35) wife of Bhim Bahadur Makim was trapped inside the house. The details of properties lost in the incident are yet to be ascertained. Naram is 120 kilometres east of district headquarters, Parasi.

Similarly, flood in Narayani River eroded lands in Gaindakot, Mukundapur, Pithauli, Kolhuwa, Narayani Prasauni area of the district said Shiva Neupane of the Badh Mukti Manch, a local organisation working to control river flood.

He said people in the area have been urged to stay in high alert round-the-clock after the water-level in the Narayani River increased.
