KC asks CPN-Maoist to take part in poll; Royalists burn effigy of Bhattarai

BAGLUNG: At a time when Mohan Baidya led CPN-Maoist has been saying that they are ready for joining hand with nationalist force including the former monarch, Chairman of Rastriya Janamorcha Chitra Bahadur KC has urged the CPN-Maoist to take part in the upcoming Constituent Assembly election slated for November 19 suggesting them to not fall into the traps of the royalists.

Leader KC opined that it was necessary to participate in the CA election so as to strengthen democracy and republic. He stressed on the need to draft new constitution through CA, despite difficulties.

In a different context, leader KC, also known for his stance against federalism, said that it was unfortunate on the part of the CPN-Maoist to talk about safeguarding nationalism by collaborating with the former King.

Saying that the royalists would cease themselves once the new constitution was promulgated by the CA, he suggested the CPN-Maoist to join the CA polls adding that they should not be involved in the ‘game’ that would foil the election.

Meanwhile, supporters of the former King staged demonstrations at the district headquarters of Bara on Sunday asking UCPN-Maoist leader Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to take back his statement against the former monarch. The protest rally organized by Rastriya Nagarik Sangharsa Samiti started from Siddheshwor school in Kalaiya and ended in a corner meeting in Bharat Chowk.

The royalists and the supporters of the former King burned effigies of leader Bhattarai.

Recently, UCPN-Maoist leader Bhattarai had said that the former King should be put behind the bars for his activities, which he said, were targeted against scheduled Constituent Assembly election. The former King is in the mission of Far West to distribute relief materials to flood victims of Far Western Region.

The participants at the protest rally chanted slogans against Bhattarai asking him take back his statement against the deposed monarch. Speaking at the corner meeting, committee’s district chairman Bharat Bahadur Malla, Umesh Thakur, among others, criticized Bhattarai for his statement against the former King.
