Isolation facility vandalized in Sankhuwasabha, Nepal
SHANKHUWASABHA:– An isolation facility built at the Himalaya Kiran Campus in Khandbari of Shankhuwasabha has been vandalized.
Medical Superintendent at District Hospital Dr. Sundar Shyam Jha said the isolation facility was vandalized and the health materials worth Rs 1.5 million damaged by an unidentified gang. The district hospital had developed a 10-bed isolation center in the campus premise five months ago. After the incident, the district hospital has filed a complaint at the District Police Office. It is said that the oxygen machine, 70 PPE, patient monitors, oxygen dividers, and other materials were also stolen by the group.
On Thursday, an all-party meeting was organized after the campus administration and local residents disowned the idea of isolation centers citing the risk of the coronavirus infection. Despite the campus administration’s refusal, the meeting had decided to use the same isolation center for immediate purpose and shift from there within 15 days.
Chief of the District Police Office Nabaraj Malla however said that none was arrested in connection to vandalism. As two individuals from Dharmadevi and Chainpur were infected with the coronavirus on Monday and the local residents had staged protests after the infected ones were supposed to be treated there.
