Is Lockdown a solution without any plans to control it ?

Only announcing lockdown is not the solution for this pandemic because at the same time many people are getting affected during lockdown too. They do not have sufficient money to buy basic needs they are unemployed however people are giving to those people who are in need. But it’s not completely working.

By N24 STAFF WRITER, KATHMANDU:- “As we have observed, the pandemic is somehow affecting people of Nepal, while still affecting a large number of Nepalis within Nepal.”

Likewise, this pandemic has effected on each and every sector in Nepal. Nepal24hours has tried to reach outs to some people of Nepal asking about the situation due to Covid-19  and how much problem they have been facing due to it.

Computer Engineer and student of Psychology Bikash Shah of Jorpati, Kathmandu Nepal government is failing to control the COVID-19 pandemic since the beginning. It is necessary to do lockdown again due to increment in a number of cases, as it will hamper the economy a lot. Government just opened lockdown without any plans and precautions which have caused the rise in the cases. Lockdown is not the only solution; I don’t see any plans for the poor.

Japan’s government is providing financial support to people for food and basic need. No such plan has been announced as per my knowledge. If the government wants to do lockdown then at least support its people with foods clothes and medicines? I don’t think lockdown is only the solution. It is just a preventive measure for not letting the pandemic spread. Inspired by lockdown also COVID-19 cases have been increasing daily and even death rates are increasing. I don’t see Nepal Government trying to find any other way, said shah.

They are busy in internet disputes and playing who shall be Prime Minister and Chairperson of Political party. I don’t see any opposition in the picture as well. Even countries like India, Bangladesh has not done lockdown after it was lifted. They know it will break their economy. We can only imagine how the country with a small economy is going to survive like this. During this time more people have died due to suicide than the COVID-19 itself.

According to the shah, Most of the students are likely to lose their one year of educational life. Thousands of people have become unemployed. Our backbone of economy Remittance and tourism is mostly affected. Staying at home and with no job and source of income has led many to depression and anxiety. It has been seen that during the lockdown period there is an increase in marital abuse and woman violence. Our family business was also doomed since the virus was seen. We make a carpet which is exported to China. So, I don’t know how we are going to up these problems.

Lakpa Doma Sherpa from Medical College, Jorpati said, its right to have lockdown now day by day COVID-19 cases have been increasing in the capital. So, it’s quite necessary for us to be more cautious. We know from yesterday’s midnight government had announced lockdown again for 1 week for our safety and to reduce the transmission of the virus at a community level. Although it will be difficult for us, we have been following it because it’s for us and society. But only announcing lockdown is not the solution for this pandemic because at the same time many people are getting affected during lockdown too. They do not have sufficient money to buy basic needs they are unemployed however people are giving to those people who are in need. But it’s not completely working.

According to Sherpa, the government should also be aware of circumstances and they should do something for their citizens. And we as citizens also have to follow the rules implemented by the government. They should provide good medical treatment to those who are infected with COVID-19. A proper examination of the quarantine area should be done.

As I’m in the education profession and due to COVID-19 pandemic I couldn’t go to work but now I’m taking online classes though it’s not being effective for the lower level students. Students who have internet facilities are willing to study but not all the students are getting internet access to study especially in the rural areas so for that it has been impacting a lot in the study of students. So, the government should take initiatives for the betterment of all the students as soon as possible.

Aashish Kc is from Jagdol, Kathmandu said that Government took the right decision it is necessary for a one-week lockdown we must since be sincere about our health. It is not a solution to do lockdown but it is necessary for the country. Most people are depressed by staying at a home in our society. Likewise, there are several problems such as no job and there is nothing to do.

Right now I’m feeling a little upset with the government’s decision because the government hasn’t any management till now for the COVID-19 pandemic and we Nepalese citizens have to face lots of problems said (named changed). As we have to be more cautious these days, then before as in Kathmandu valley also cases have been increasing more. For that, we don’t have a job, money and to pay rent is also getting tough.

We aren’t doing anything right now is it would be possible to survive for upcoming days. The government had announced a one-week lockdown but what after that? Slowing I’m losing faith upon government because the government has been neglecting the COVID-19 pandemic till now so it will be very bad in upcoming days.
