KATHMANDU: Indian ambassador to Nepal, Jayant Prasad, has announced his embassy’s plans to provide monthly scholarships to all the members of Under-19 Nepali National Women Cricket Team.
Prasad made such announcement amid a program held at the embassy on Friday to felicitate the sports women. As part of the scheme each of the 14 players will receive five thousand rupees each per month.
The Team won the title of ACC U-19 Women’s Cricket Tournament-2012 that was held in Kuwait last month. This was the third successive year (2008, 2010 and 2012) that Nepal won the title.
Education Minister Dinanath Sharma and Minister for Youths and Sports Kamala Rokka were also present at the event and expressed hopes that the scholarships will raise the morale of the players and assist them in keeping their spirits high.
