Indian Americans Organize NFIA National Women’s Conference

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA:- Engineered by some paramount women in power, walking the walk, who intended to make a difference in the lives of others, planned a special National Women’s Conference 2021 to be organized by National Federation of Indian American Associations (NFIA), on December 26, 2021 in Artesia, California, which not only brought the community leaders both men and women together but encouraged them to share their life journey that led to the uplift of their own lives and motivated others to see a different perspective in their lives.

A trio of Pooja Thomre, Convener of the NFIA National Women’s Conference 2021, and the Treasurer of NFIA, Ajoy Dube, President of NFIA , and Ms. Vasu Pawar, CEO/Founder of Step2StepUp Inc., the incoming Regional Vice President of NFIA, methodized the event at a venue that not only created a beautiful ambiance and set the stage for this unique platform for everyone to enjoy, but also shared their idealistic approach to a prospective and meaningful life.

The topic “The Myth of the Illusionary Glass Ceiling” was introduced as the topic of discussion for the Panel. Dr. Rini Ghosh, Special Guest and President of Vedanta International Cultural Center, a young and dynamic Keynote Speaker, an engineer by profession; and Ms. Shrina Kurani, a graduate from UC Riverside, shared experiences of their personal lives.

The event had prominent personalities like Arun Bhumitra, and Chief Guest Mr. Ashok Madan, both engineers by profession, who have always supported many women initiatives financially.

Another topic addressed was “Evolution of Technology as a game-changer” (opening many doors for women in mainstream fields).

It’s been the NFIA tradition to give awards to outstanding individuals for service to the Community. The award for Extraordinary leadership and Community Service Worldwide was given to Mr. Vijay Kumar Patil. Mr. Patil is the founding President and Chair of Shivaji Maharaj Antarashtriya Parivar (SMAP) that has 30+ Chapters globally. The award for Propagating the Indian culture in the US mainstream was given to Mr. Nakul.

The award for Philanthropy and Success in the mainstream real estate field in the USA was given to Mr. Ashok Madan. Mr. Ashok Madan is a philanthropist and a real estate mogul. The award for Bringing About Revolution in the community with a Vision and a Mission was bestowed on Ms. Pooja Thomre. Ms.Thomre is one of the youngest and poised Leaders in the Community.

The award for Global Outreach and connecting ethnicities to attain Global Peace was given to Dr. Manorama Gupta for her liberal contribution to the Global Community in the US.

The award for Empowering the Girl Child was given to Dr. Girish Kulkarni, who is the founder of an NGO Snehalaya – that ensures a life free from inequality, cruelty, and discrimination for every woman and child.

The award for Initiative in Economic Development of Rural parts of India was given to Ms. Kamini Khare. The award for Youth Leadership and Entrepreneurship was given to Ms. Vasu Pawar. Ms. Pawar has taken the entrepreneurship programs to new heights by overseeing projects by young entrepreneurs.

The NFIA National Women’s Conference was concluded with a group picture and vote of thanks by Mr. Kewal Kanda, who has been providing unbiased support to the Indian Community and currently heads the India @75 Amrit Mahotsav project.
