Asika Sambahanphe, KATHMANDU: The Indian government has pledged Rs 48 million in aid for the relief and rescue of the victims of floods and landslides across the nation.
Addressing a greeting exchange programme organised by Nepal-India Friendship Network to mark the occasion of 68th Independence Day of India in Kathmandu on Saturday, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae announced the relief amount on behalf of his government. He s aid the Indian government is always ready to help in Nepal’s crisis.
Rae opined that Nepal-India relations should be for economic development. He added that the two neighbours should work together for poverty alleviation, health development and employment generation.
“Many countries in the world are taking stride on the path to prosperity,” s aid envoy Rae, “We should also move ahead together by using the resources available in our countries.”
At the programme, Foreign Minister Mahendra Pandey thanked India for the help and goodwill gesture shown towards Nepal.
