PARASI: Indian government has agreed to repair the Gandak power house closed for the past four months in Nawalparasi district.
India is to repair as per the agreement between Indian embassy and officials of Nepal and India, the power house said.
Paper works have been forwarded for the repair of the Gandak power house and works will start soon, it said.
The only power house in Nawalparasi has been closed for the past four months as all the three turbines were dysfunctional. The power house has a 15-mw capacity.
The Gandak Hydro Electricity Power Station was handed over to Nepal by Indian government after building it at Guthisuryapura, at the border as per the agreement between the two countries in 2036 BS.
Nawalparasi industrialists were hard hit from the closure. Locals have demanded immediate repair and that the royalty from it should be spent in development of this area.
