India according top-priority to Koirala’s visit


NEW DELHI: The Indian government has given top priority to the visit of Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala. Koirala is embarking six days visit to India from Sunday.

The Ministry of External Affairs has posted the visit of Koirala at its website. NC President Koirala will meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Secretary Sujata Singh on Monday. Similarly he will meet leader of National Democratic Alliance Sonia Gandhi and External Affairs Minister Salman Khursid on Tuesday. Unlike other Nepali leaders, who visited India at the Invitation of Indian Government, Koirala shall meet Chief Minister of Northern State Akhilesh Yadav and Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar on Wednesday and Thursday.

He is likely to visit Indian states near to Banke and Bardiya and raise the issue of flood and inundation with the governments. Koirala is also meeting opposition leader Shshma Sworaj. Congress leaders Krishna Prasad Sitoula and Prakash Man Singh are accompanying Koirala during his India visit.

Meanwhile, Koirala held discussion with Foreign Affairs Experts before his India visit and sought their suggestions on the agendas of his visit. They suggested that the visit should be taken as an effort to strengthen relations between Nepali Congress and major political parties and leaders of India. They also informed that Nepali Congress could not be able to lead the government during the period of the Constituent Assembly in absence of good relations of the party with political parties of neighboring countries and suggested Koirala to strengthen the relations.

Koirala also met with President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and informed him about his India visit and agendas of discussion during his visit. Koirala is visiting India after the visit of Maoist chairperson Prachanda, Senior Leader of Nepali Congress and Senior leader of CPN-UML. India is believed to be receiving political update by inviting leaders of various political parties. India’s good intention is taken as a key to reach to the power.
