KATHMANDU: As some political parties have been opposing the election of the constituent assembly proposed by the Chief Justice led election government, chairperson of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi has said that the political parties and people should play leading roles to make the upcoming CA election a success.
Addressing the Third National Conference of Ex-MPs’ Forum and 55th MPs Day, Regmi termed the government as a facilitator and added that the success of the upcoming CA election was associated with the success of the political parties. “If the election was not held on the proposed date, that could be the failure of the political parties along with the government,” he said, adding, all should contribute from their side to make the election successful.
He further said that election is democracy’s backbone and foundation pillar. Parliament has become a compulsory body in the world whatever the ruling systems are.
Regmi also pledged that the government would hold the elections in a free and independent manner as the government was formed with a single agenda of holding the CA election. Chairman Regmi also urged the former MPs for their support to make the election a success.
Forum’s Chairman and former Speaker Taranath Ranabhat said the erstwhile CA was dissolved in an artificial manner and added that the parties should state about the reasons of CA dissolution before heading for next CA election.
