KATHMANDU: After the demise of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the debate on groupism along with nepotism also heated up the Nepali film industry. While the debate on this issue is widespread, Deepak Raj Giri, Sudarshan Thapa, Santosh Sen, Dipendra K. Khanal, Chhabiraj Ojha, and others were accused of groupism in the film industry. They were accused of groupism by repeating the same actor in their movies.
However, director Khanal claims that he has not done groupism yet. “I am against groupism,” he said. That kind of discussion may have happened because of the repetition of Suraksha Pant in my three consecutive films. But, I have taken it because it suits the story of the film. She may not be in the film to be made now. So it would be wrong to say that I am doing groupism. ‘
He says that he will not have any contact with the actor after shooting the film. He said that he had only one conversation with Suraksha after the film ‘Aama’. He says that he will take the actor who has already worked in the film only if it is suitable for the story. He adds, “I am very careful about groupism. I think those who are talented should get the opportunity. ‘
Although there is no nepotism in the film industry, groupism can be seen, he said. ‘Groupism is more visible during film releases than at other times. I don’t believe in nepotism, “he said. After ‘Aama’ director Khanal is preparing two films ‘Chiso Manche’ and ‘Lockdown’. He said that the filming of ‘Chiso Manche’ will start after the situation returns to normal.
