With Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani releasing this Friday, B-town’s famous ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone have become the topic of delightful discussions. From college campuses to office watercoolers, you will find people talking about the Kapoor scion and the leggy lass endlessly.
While Ranbir Kapoor is undoubtedly the better actor of the two, Deepika Padukone has certainly made her mark as a fast emerging B-town diva with noteworthy acting chops by playing different characters in her recent films. In Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani the 28-year-old sexy siren will be seen playing a hottie-geek called Naina, who is submissive, soft-spoken and intelligent. “I can relate a lot to my character. While shooting for this movie I realised that Naina is like me in many ways; she is smart, opinionated and very sensitive,” said Deepika in a recent interview with BollywoodLife. Dips also maintained that she is very comfortable in her own space and knows what her strengths are.“ I don’t think I can play a more challenging role than Veronica from Cocktail. I need to take it slowly and need to understand the character well before jumping at it just for the sake of experimenting,” she added. But experimenting she is even in her next action-dhamaka Chennai Express. The Rohit Shetty movie will see Deepika in a pure desi avatar and we are eagerly looking forward to see the elegant lady playing a hatke character opposite Shahrukh Khan!
We take a look at Deepika’s last four films and the characters she has played in them. Which role did you like best?
