Government browbeats court to have Madheshi in the army

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday has issued necessary orders to throw the gate of the army to Madheshi youth. Orders have gone to Defence Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar and Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun.

If everything goes well, the process of recruiting Madheshi youth in the army will get underway in seven days. This is happening despite the fact of the Supreme court to deny any group entry into the army.

“The court has only stayed group-wise entry. But the recruitment under the governing law is not a problem” leader of the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik Raj Kishore Yadav quoted Prime Minister Bhattarai as saying.

PM Bhattarai has issued order to Finance Minister to arrange for funds for the recruitment drive. He also directed Pun to make available finances to open up schools in native places of Madhes movement martyrs and to build postal roads.
