KATHMANDU: Although the government has announced the date of November 14 for holding the elections of the constituent assembly, it seems that the government has to pass through thorny path for paving the way for the elections.
At one hand the government has to bring four major political parties into a boat at a time when they are divided sharply and supporting the government by analyzing calculation of the election, on other hand it has to convince 42-political parties for taking part in the election. Convincing the agitating parties is a crucial task for the success of the CA elections as the alliance is getting stronger every day. Initially they were 33 but the number has reached to 42 as the Interim Election Government failed to function smoothly.
Speaking at a program in Capital on Thrusday, CPN-Maoist Vice Chairman CP Gajurel has warned that another conflict will be inevitable in the nation once the date for Constituent Assembly is announced.
Gajurel said, “Announcement of election date amounts to commencement of another conflict. The syndicate of four parties is preparing for the same.” Gajurel said that India was pressurizing Nepali leaders to conduct CA polls by November.
The alliance of 42-political parties including CPN-Maoist has been warning to disrupt the poll process conducted without consulting them. He claimed that the election conducted without the participation of around a dozen parties including the CPN-Maoist would be meaningless.
“Let’s not conduct election just to satisfy India and push the nation into conflict. We will punish those who dare to conduct election forcefully under the status quo and can’t accept that,” Gajurel added.
Meanwhile, addressing a program in Palpa, senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has stressed on the need for ending the current transition period to bail the country out of the current political deadlock.
Nepal called on everyone to lend support for a successful conduction of the Constituent Assembly elections. He opined that the CA elections should not be delayed in order to end the current transition He urged the political leaders to work collectively for ensuring an early election.
