Fourth Environment Literary Symposium held in UK

LONDON: A literary symposium was held in London, the capital city of the United Kingdom, recently. The fourth environment literary symposium organized at the joint initiations of 14 Nepali literary organisations based in the UK on the occasion of World Environment Day was inaugurated by Nepal’s Ambassador for the UK and litterateur Dr Durga Bahadur Subedi. Some 35 female and male poets recited their creations based on the theme of environment and air pollution.
Among them, the poem by Ahilya Kunwar was adjudged the best. The literary gathering aimed to create an awareness for the protection of environment, Sahitya Sangam chair Binod Adhikari said.
Kathmandu has been chosen for hosting the next or fifth symposium with a view to promoting the Nepal Visit Year. On the occasion, Ambassador Dr Subedi and programme coordinator Bijay Hitan jointly released three literary creations by different writers. The World Environment Day-2019 was celebrated on June 5 across the world and ‘air pollution’ was its theme.
