Four minors drown to death while avoiding scorching heat


SARLAHI: Four minor girls were drowned to death in Sasapur-6 of Sarlahi district on Saturday. Police said that the kids had gone to the local pond for swimming to beat the scorching heat.

The deceased have been identified as Chanchala Sah, 10, Mantur Sah, 13, Shiva Kumari Mahato, 13 and Parbati Sah, 12. Mantur and Chanchala are sisters.

The girls were already dead before the horrified villagers arrived on the scene after other kids around made noise seeing them succumbing in the deep water. It has been learnt that around 6/7 kids had gone to the pond for swimming. Locals said the girls, who were tending cattle, were unaware of the risk as they could not swim well.
