N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Former lieutenant-general of Nepal army Balananda Sharma has been appointed as the head of the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC). Sources confirmed that the cabinet meeting held on Monday evening appointed Sharma as the head of CCMC.
Former lieutenant-general Sharma also served as the coordinator of a special committee set up to integrate the Nepal Army and the Maoist army. He is now tasked with planning corona infection control and implementing government-approved plans.
Sharma will be the head of the CCMC as well as the member secretary of the board of directors led by the prime minister. The member secretary of the board of directors will be the head of CCMC.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel was the head of the board of directors. Recently, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli himself has been leading the board of directors by removing Pokhrel from that responsibility.
The Board of Directors consists of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Home, General Administration, and Federal Affairs, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Health and Population, Finance, Agriculture, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Tourism.
