FNJ appeals to parliament to resolve problems in SC


KATHMANDU:- The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has appealed to parliament, government and political parties to take necessary initiatives to resolve the problems seen in the Supreme Court for two weeks.
The FNJ said its serious attention had been drawn towards the silence maintained by the parliament, government and political parties before such a serious problem facing the country’s judiciary.
Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the FNJ urged the agitating side to pay attention on court’s prestige and dignity.
The statement reads, “The FNJ urges the judiciary leadership to show high morale, taking the issues raised by Nepal Bar Association and at people’s level to protect the court’s prestige.” It urged the Supreme Court leadership to end the existing stalemate.
Saying serious attention was drawn towards the scenario, it expressed concern over the incident taking place in the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court of the country established in line with the principle of separation of powers as envisioned by the Constitution of Nepal should be clean, dignified and trustworthy, mentioned the FNJ.
“It is unfortunate to create a situation drawing agitation by the Nepal Bar Association, which has been questioning the non-judicial behaviour of the Supreme Court. The stalemate in the SC has deprived the people of their right to justice. The FNJ wants to drew attention of the bodies concerned towards the risk of eroding public trust on SC”, reads the statement.
