
KATHMANDU: All domestic and international flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) were diverted for nearly an hour Friday afternoon after the runway developed cracks. The flights diverted after a section of the runway got damaged.
The sole international airport of the country had seen a similar situation several times before, causing worries over the safety on the runway. On Sunday, flights were cancelled for nearly two hours after the runway developed cracks.
However, the airport resumed the flight operation s after repairing the damage. This is the second time in a week the TIA, only international airport of the country, halted flight operation s due to the damages on the runway. According to sources, intersection C and D of the runway have crumbled.
