
SAPTARI: A total of 115 huts were gutted as fire engulfed Joginiya village in Saptari at around midnight on Friday, police said.
According to local officials, the fire was started by electric short circuit at midning. Around 42 families have been displaced after their homes were reduced to ashes. According to locals, property worth 15 million rupees destroyed in the incident.
There was no human casualty in the incident. The blaze came into control only at around 12 noon on Saturday. Fire used to cause heavy loss in poor settlements of Eastern Nepal every year.
