KATHMANDU: At a time when the government is facing criticism for not announcing the election date at the earliest to prolong its tenure at office, Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala has said that the incumbent government is appointed on contract basis to accomplish a certain mission.
Minister Koirala also made it clear that preparation is underway as the target of the government was to handover the power to the elected government by holding election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) at the earliest.
Stating that environment of consensus with political parties is being created and the government has been involved in making this a success, the Finance Minister said that bringing the economy on a right track is our responsibility.
He also reiterated that the main target of the government is the election as the government is a non-political one and also urged media to support the government for holding the elections on time.
Meanwhile during his meeting with Asian Development Bank’s Country Director to Nepal Kenichi Yokoyama on Monday, Minister Koirala has requested the ADB to increase aid volume.
During the meeting, Koirala expressed his concern over the increasing load of loans.
On the query of Yokoyama about the future of projects and planning’s invested by ADB following resignation by the officials of National Planning Commission, Koirala suggested Yokomaya not to worry as the government will be responsible to manage all the projects.
