Far-west Festival to begin from December 7


KATHMANDU:
The ‘far-west festival-2012’ is to be held at Dhagadhi of Kailali from December 7 to promote tourism, local products and arts and culture in the far-western region.
At a press conference recently organized by Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, it was informed that the main goal of the seventh festival is to encourage local products and folk culture.
Chamber Chairperson Karna Kunwar said, ‘The festival would give focus on the promotion of local language, culture and entrepreneurship’.
Various programme will be featured during the 10-day festival, he added.
The far-western region is enriched with different tourism sites including Khaptad, Shuklaphanta, Saipal, Api Nampa and Ghodaghodi. The watershed area of the region has potential to generate over 30,000 MW of electricity, said Kunwar.  The organizing body has expected to make total transaction worth Rs 150 million.
