SIRAHA : Two day before Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala is embarking India visit, an underground group set off a bomb at the Nepali Congress party office in the Siraha district headquarters on Thursday night. The blast caused minor damages to the office.
Media reports quoted eye witnesses as saying that the device went off at 8.30 p.m. which burnt the papers and furniture at the office. The District Police Office lies some 300 metres to the north-east of the party office. Similarly, there is round-the-clock police watch at the Hemnarayan Chowk, 150 metres north of it.
Eastern Militia Commander of the Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha, Jaya Mukti, phoned media persons and owned up the incident.
The bomb has been detonated at the Nepali Congress party office since the hill-dominated regime including some Madhes-centric parties were exploiting the Madhes and the Madhesi people by entrenching their presence in the Madhes, Mukti said on the phone about the reason behind the attack. The armed outfits of tarai have been warning to take action against Madhesh based parties and its leaders ahead of the constituent assembly election alleging that they are working not in favor of tarai people.
Meanwhile, an unidentified armed gang robbed two houses here in Ashanpur VDC on early Saturday morning and made away with valuables and cash worth 400 thousand rupees.
According to SP Purna Chandra Joshi at district police office, the gang robbed houses of Rajendra Sah of ward no. 2 and Surya Narayan Sah of ward no. 3. The gang of 5 to 7 members made away with a tola gold and Rs. 10, 000 cash from Rajendra’s house and 2.5 tolas of gold, 10 tolas of Silver and Rs. 12,000 cash and others from Surya Narayan’s house.
