Ex-lawmakers escalate dialogue to reinstate CA

KATHMANDU : Though the major political parties have no dispute on holding fresh elections to end the present political impasse, the former Constituent Assembly (CA) members of the major parties have expedited their bids for the reinstatement of the dissolved CA.

The former lawmakers have reasoned that reinstatement of the dissolved CA was an appropriate option to end the present political and constitutional crisis as well a point of departure for consensus.
A former lawmaker said, “Resurrection of the dissolved CA is the best alternative.
It saves time and money too. So, we are campaigning for CA’s reinstatement.” Speaking at a talk programme organized by the former women lawmakers in the capital today, the speakers accused the top leaders of major parties of designing political coup by keeping over 570 lawmakers inside the CA building in confusion.

The speakers said that no issue would be resolved until the parties forged consensus in names and numbers of the federal provinces whatever options were adopted. They suggested that solution to the present political deadlock should be sought by calling a meeting of all 601 lawmakers represented in the dissolved CA.
The former lawmakers said that dissolution of the CA proved that none of the top leaders was serious to the rights of dalit, women, indigenous and marginalized communities.

The former lawmakers expressing their opinions at the programme were Kalpana Rana, Dama Sharma, Shovakar Parajuli, Radha Gyawali, Tilak Pariyar, Mohan Pandey, Ram Bahadur Thapa (Udayapur), Sarswati Rai and Ushakala Rai, among others. RSS
