EU wants CAAN report by mid-September

KATHMANDU: The European Union agency has reminded the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal of mid-September deadline for submission of its progress report on aviation safety to the EU Air Safety Committee. In a letter sent earlier this week, the agency wanted a comprehensive report on CAAN’s actions and achievements in addressing EU’s concerns about pilot training and licensing, revalidation and issuance of air operator certificates, accident investigation and overall capacity of aviation regulator. “The CAAN will submit its report informing the EU that safety is gradually improving,” Director General Ratish Chandra Lal Suman said. If convinced, the EU may discuss Nepal’s agenda in the next meeting that will review EU’s air safety list.
