By N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” has said that it was a right decision for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to declare fresh election and reach out to people for political stability of the country.
“Reactionary forces are attempting to discredit the announcement for election, which is very unfortunate. We need election, if we want to move on the path of political stability,” Home Minister Thapa said, as he was addressing an assembly of Kathmandu district members of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in the capital on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
“We don’t need the old parliament, as a new parliament is the right path for today and tomorrow,” Home Minister Thapa said, stressing that reinstating the old parliament would not be the right option.
PM Oli also addressed the event and said that Nepal-Dahal faction of NCP is misleading people by saying that the dissolved House of Representatives would be reinstated.
“I had to dissolve the House and declare fresh election, as I strongly felt that democracy, constitution, stability and tranquility were in danger,” PM Oli said.
Similarly, addressing a gathering of front line party members of NCP in Jaleshwor, Mahottari, Minister for Urban Development Prabhu Sah said that Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has no trust in people and is scared of election.
“Prachanda does not trust the voice of people. That’s why he is not willing to face the election,” Minister Sah said. “PM Oli repeatedly asked Prachanda to decide a new party chair through general convention and a new PM through election. Prachanda did not heed to these noble suggestions and that’s why PM Oli had to declare the fresh election.”
Addressing the same event, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Lilanath Shrestha said PM Oli dissolved the House as per the constitution of Nepal.
“PM Oli dissolved the House for nationalism and to protect people’s rights. Everybody should take this positively and go for election,” Minister Shrestha said.
Likewise, National Assembly lawmaker Suman Pyakurel said PM Oli is the supreme leader for Nepal and Nepal’s nationalism.
“PM Oli played a key role in connecting the mountain, hill and terai regions of Nepal. He played a key role in safeguarding Nepal’s nationalism by fighting with the foreign powers,” lawmaker Pyakurel said.
