N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- The Election Commission has said that the action taken by Upendra Yadav and Mahanta Thakur of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) against each other is invalid. It has also decided to retain the old party office bearers.
The Upendra Yadav faction had expelled four leaders, including Chairman Mahanta Thakur, on the basis of a majority of the executive committee, while the Mahanta Thakur faction had expelled Upendra Yadav.
Both of them had applied to update the details as per Article 51 of the Political Parties Act 2073 BS.

A meeting of the commission officials held on Sunday put forward four arguments and said that the action taken by the two sides against each other was not in accordance with the law.
The Commission has stated that the demand made by Chairman Upendra Yadav along with another Chairman Thakur along with Rajendra Mahato, Sarvendranath Shukla, and Laxman Lal Karna, and Chairman Thakur expelled another Chairman Upendra Yadav from the party for updating is not in accordance with Article 51 of the Political Parties Act.
