Elderly service center established with French students support


KASKI: A senior citizen day service centre was established in Kaski with support from French students under Solidarity for France-Nepal.
The centre was established at Machhapucchre rural municipality-3, Ghachowk to enable senior citizens to gather and share their experiences and feelings each other.
A group of six French students, who came to visit Nepal from ESCP Colleges based in Paris on 6 July, had collaborated with locals and built the centre in 25 days.
The centre was built in collaboration between the group and Mother Memorial Foundation Nepal. Foundation Chair Basanta Raj Dawadi said the volunteer students put their utmost labour to construct the centre’s building with toilet.
The students donated cash Rs 380,000 and mobilized kin dlabour worth amounting to Rs 200,000. The building was constructed at the cost of Rs 800,000 with financial assistance from Foundation, Solidarity for France Nepal and rural municipality, Dawadi informed.
Some 30 French volunteer students are engaged in different social works in different villages of Nepal and they are happy to aid Nepali people, shared team leader of the group, Gaspard Dorigal.
The building has the capacity to accommodate 50 elderly people.
