EC extends the deadline by a week; IEC chair holds parleys with President

KATHMANDU: Following the government’s call, the Election Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for the registration of candidacy by a week. However, the date of CA polls slated for November 19 remains unchanged.

The government made the request to alter the general strike announced by the poll opposing 33-political parties. It is learnt that the poll opposing parties are also mulling to reschedule the protest programs with the decision of the EC to defer the poll.
