A joint bench of Justices Prakash Srivastava and Rajarshi Bhardwaj on Wednesday ordered immediate compensation of Rs 500,000 to Timsina in the name of the West Bengal government. The court said the money was sent to Timsina’s account within six weeks.
Timsina, who was arrested 40 years ago on murder charges, was released in April last year on the initiative of engineers. Timsina, who was kept in jail without trial, was released by the Calcutta High Court last yearTimsina, who was released following a court order, returned to his home in Lumbak, Ilam last April. His family’s financial situation is very poor. He has been kept at the Human Services Ashram in Biratnagar as his mental condition has deteriorated
