Nepali Congress leader Dr Ram Sharan Mahat has urged the President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to elect a new Prime Minister for the national consensus if the parties fail to meet third deadline provided by the president.
Speaking at a program in Nuwakot on Saturday, Dr Mahat, who is also a former Finance Minister, warned that the country would plunge into further crisis if an agreement between the parties could not be reached within the deadline. “Political instability in the country would deepen if the parties failed to forge a consensus on time and the President should form a national consensus government under the leadership of the party that has majority without any delay,” Dr Mahat argued. He also accused the main ruling party Maoist of derailing the consensus building process after Congress proposed party president Sushil Koirala as the Prime Minister candidate.
