KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung, has said that knowledge, skills and experience gained by neighbouring countries would be useful for Nepal as it has put development of information and technology sector on top priority.
Minister Gurung expressed this view after inquiring about the progress made by Israel in the sector of satellite development during a courtesy call paid by Israeli Ambassador for Nepal, Hanan Godar, at Singha Durbar on Monday. He opined, “The government of Nepal has forwarded the implementation of Digital Nepal Framework with priority for the development of IT sector. The development made by different countries in IT sector will be most useful for Nepal in this regard.” Gurung also stressed on construction of infrastructure for the development of IT sector fulfilling the national goal, “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
Minister Gurung extended gratitude to Israel for providing employment opportunities to Nepalis and its support in development of Nepal’s agro sector. Similarly, Ambassador Godar said that Israel was ready to provide support in Nepal’s agriculture and tourism sectors. Saying Israel’s satellite technology would be helpful for the development of Nepal’s IT sector, he added that Israel was ready to provide support to government of Nepal for the same.
