Deuba-Poudel engaged in Congress active membership dispute resolution

N24 Correspondent, KATHMANDU:- A joint meeting of the top three leaders tasked with resolving the active membership dispute of the Nepali Congress is being held today.

A meeting of party president and prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula is scheduled to be held.

According to Deuba’s secretariat, the meeting will be held at 11:30 am in Budhanilkantha.

These top three leaders have three main responsibilities to be resolved within five days.

The first responsibility is to decide on new active membership in Bara and Saptari districts. The active membership investigation committee has not opened the file saying that the details came late from these districts.

The second responsibility is to resolve disputes over new active membership in Dhanusha-4 and Sarlahi-2. Congress leaders have been protesting at the party’s central office in Sanepa.

The third responsibility is to decide on the active membership from the adjustment. The membership could not be distributed due to a dispute over the active membership given to the team including Sunil Thapa, who left RPP and joined the Nepali Congress.

Due to the active membership dispute, it has been decided that the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress, which is scheduled to be held from September 3, will not be held on that date.
