Dedicated transmission line to be constructed for Gautam Buddha Int’l airport

KATHMANDU: An understanding has been reached among inter-government bodies to make necessary coordination among them to provide power supply for Bhairahawa-based under construction Gautam Buddha International Airport.
During the discussion held at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on Sunday, the understanding was reached among Nepal Electricity Authority, Department of Roads and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal in this regard.
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Bhattarai, and Tourism State Minister, Dhan Bahadur Budha, among others held discussion with an objective of finding out measures to resolve problems seen in course of constructing dedicated transmission line, necessary for under construction international airport.
On the occasion, understanding was reached where the NEA and Department of Roads would start all works to be carried out from their sides immediately, and CAAN would make necessary facilitation in it, said Energy Minister’s Chief Secretary, Durga Prasad Chapagain.
Minister Pun said, “Construction of national pride projects have been moving ahead. My expectation is that all bodies concerned would fulfill their responsibilities on time.”
Similarly, Tourism Minister Bhattarai informed the meeting about the problems surfaced in course of construction of the airport and works to be carried out for smooth supply of power.
Secretaries of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Ministry, Dr Sanjay Sharma and Dinesh Kumar Ghimire and Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management, Debendra Karki, among others were present in the meeting.
