KATHMANDU:- Chairperson of Dahal-Nepal group of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has brushed off the statement that the government had been ‘barred’ from working in favour of people. He challenged that evidences should be shown if hurdles were created for the government to work.
The former Prime Minister was addressing a gathering of the party cadres organised by the NCP Kathmandu district committee on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister refused to form a high-level mechanism to make government’s work effective during Covid-19 pandemic, he claimed accusing PM of failing to take NCP into confidence and insulting people’s mandate by dissolving people elected House of Representatives.
Stating that they (Dahal-Nepal group) have more than two-thirds members of the central committee, he said the Election Commission had convinced them that decisions would be taken as per laws related to political parties. “The EC has urged us to be convinced that a party having over 50 percent its central members will receive official recognition,” he shared, warning, “But, a storm will occur if decisions are taken against existing laws and acts. People will not be a mute spectator when a constitutional body goes against laws and acts”
Another Chair of the group Madhav Kumar Nepal charged PM that he failed to follow party’s system and ran away from attending a meeting to resolve problems within the party. Stating that dissolution of the lower house attacked the constitution, Nepal said a question over spirits and values of the constitution was raised. He also urged party leaders and cadres to stay in favour of democracy.
NCP standing committee member and Bagmati Province in-charge Asta Laxmi Shakya maintained that only people’s movements would reinstate the dissolved HoR.
A 1,576-member Kathmandu district struggle committee under the leadership of NCP central member Sabitra Bhusal has been announced to support a protest against the dissolution of the HoR. To be led by the struggle committee, a demonstration is scheduled to take place in Kathmandu on February 5.
