KATHMANDU: At a time when he has been facing criticism of being loyal to foreign forces and acting on their tune, chairperson of UCPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that ‘certain powers’ are active to foil the proposed plans of holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
The former Prime Minister said so during the UCPN-Maoist Central Committee meeting that kicked off at the party headquarters in Paris Danda, Kathmandu on Sunday.
The UCPN-Maoist party is holding its first CC meeting after the party’s seventh General Convention held in Hetauda some three months back.
Dahal however did not divulge the identity of the ‘powers’ who were intending to foil the election process. He indirectly hinted at the Nepali Congress, UML and Mohan Baidya-led Maoists.
Meanwhile, the UCPN-Maoist on Sunday inducted Ramchandra Jha and Urmila Aryal into its central committee as members and Lakki Sherpa as an alternative member.
The trio had recently defected the CPN (UML) and joined the UCPN-Maoist expressing their dissatisfaction with the party leadership. Jha and Aryal were politburo members in the UML.
“The new comers Aryal and Jha have been given the responsibility as central committee members and Sherpa as alternative central committee member.” Agni Sapkota, the spokesperson for the UCPN-Maoist said.
Previously, it was speculated that Jha and Aryal would be made standing committee members of the Maoist party but that could not happen due to the ongoing internal rifts within the party.
