NEPALGUNJ: Although the government is yet to announce the date for the election of the constituent assembly and many analysts have been suspecting the intention of the political parties for holding the elections, leaders of political parties have been claiming to emerge as the largest party in the constituent assembly.
Not only the leaders of major political parties some fringe parties have also been claiming that they would receive significant size in the new constituent assembly. The political parties have been mulling over forming electoral alliance to ensure majority in the new election so that they would form the constitution close to their ideology.
Addressing a news conference in Nepalgunj, chairperson of the CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal, has also claimed that his party would be in the first position after the next CA election.
At a time when some major Madhesh and Indigenous leaders have been deserting the party, the UML stalwart did not hesitate that all cadres and leaders of the party have now united, so no one can defeat his party.
Responding to a query, he said it was wrong to say that the CPN-UML is being weaker after some leaders quit the party.
Stating that there could be alliance with likeminded parties in some places in CA election, the CPN-UML Chairperson said the CA election should be held by mid-December and political parties have no other alternative to it. He also claimed that Nepali people are now free from the illusion towards the UCPN-Maoist.
