KATHMANDU: As the CPN-Maoist led alliance has been vowing to foil the November 19 election announced by the Chief Justice led election government, CPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman CP Gajurel said that the country will plunge into a fresh conflict if the new Constituent Assembly elections are not stopped.
Stating that the government might mobilize Nepal Army for holding the elections of the constituent assembly, he informed that his party will hold talks with Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana if the government and the major parties try to impose the Constituent Assembly polls forcefully.
Gajurel further said that the four major political parties and the current Khil Raj Regmi government are bent on holding the elections even by mobilizing the army. “We will talk to Chief of Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana and ask him if the army only belongs to the four parties,” he said.
“The government has been trying to hold CA polls by deploying Nepal Army, we would take up this issue with the CoAS on this matter,” he added. He warned that if the new elections are imposed using the army, his party will, as a counter measure, boycott the vote by ‘actively mobilizing’ the people.
He said there is no point holding talks with the four major parties unless the parties are ready to scrap the 11-point and 25-point agreements, discontinue with the current Khil Raj Regmi government and postpone the November 19 elections.
The party issued the threat at a time it is feeling nervous as many political parties of the alliance have been deserting the alliance to take part in the elections of the constituent assembly.
