
KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist has said that it does not have any weapons and that UCPN-Maoist chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal is responsible for the weapons provided to the party leaders for their security.
Issuing a press statement on Monday, CPN-M general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa said that his party’s attention has been drawn towards the “indications through various means that the weapons have not been returned though the party (CPN-Maoist).”
Thapa said the weapons were received by the government through Dahal when the party had not split and that he is answerable to those weapons.
According to the Home Ministry, the CPN-M leaders have not returned 32 weapons provided to them for their security. Prior to the party split, senior leaders of the UCPN (M) including the standing committee and politburo members were provided weapons.
CPN-M chairman Mohan Baidya, vice chairman CP Gajurel, general secretary Thapa, secretaries Dev Gurung and Netra Bikram Chand, spokesperson Pampha Bhusal and politburo members Kul Bahadur K.C, Khadga Bahadur BK, Hari Bhakta Kandel, and Hitman Shakya are known to have still kept those modern weapon.
