CPN-Maoist captures electoral materials; Baidya warns of another conflict if they were sidelined

JAJARKOT: The poll opposing CPN-Maoist, which has warned strong action against electoral process, has captured electoral education materials in Jajarkot district on Saturday morning.

Over a dozen cadres seized electoral education materials including stationeries, handouts, among others, from Dashera VDC of the district. According to CPN-Maoist district Secretary Imaswar Devkota, they seized electoral materials as per their planned party policy. The party has warned of physical action against all involved in the electoral process.

As part of electoral education programs, a team was sent from District Election Office to conduct training in four different places in the district today for the much awaited Constituent Assembly elections. Meanwhile, District Election Office, Jajarkot has said that the training will be conducted despite the obstacle created by the poll opposing parties. The 33-party alliance has decided to foil the election at any cost as the major political parties rejected their demands of deferring the election of the constituent assembly and resignation of the Chairperson of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi from the post of Prime Minister.

In another context, CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has said that another conflict will emerge in the country if the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election was conducted by sidelining his party.

Speaking at a program in the Capital on Saturday, Baidya said that the upcoming CA election to be held by keeping outside a force of the People’s War will not give completion to the peace process. Saying that a large number of leaders in all parties are advocating the participation of the 33-party alliance in the election, Chairman Baidya urged all to take initiatives to end the problem through consensus.

He was of the view that all parties in the High Level Political Committee, the President and the Chairman of the Interim Election Council should assist to manage the present political situation.
