KATHMANDU:- The corona of the players of the national football team participating in the training for the World Cup qualifiers and Asian Cup qualifiers have been tested. Of the 34 players who will participate in the closed training on Monday, 11 have been tested for corona.
On the first day along with the players, 25 people including 1 physio, 1 coach and 12 staff of ANFA Hostel have been tested. Physio inventor Pudasaini and trainer Kiran Shrestha have also been tested at Patan Hospital in Lalitpur.
On Monday, Vishal Rai, Ranjit Dhimal, Mikchen Tamang, Ravi Paswan, Darshan Gurung, Vimal Rana, Deep Karki, Dilen Loktan, Chiring Gurung, Devendra Tamang and Pujan Uparkoti were tested. Manager of the national football team Madhusudan Upadhyaya informed that the PCR of the remaining players and officials will be held on Tuesday.
With the government easing the lockdown, ANFA is preparing to start training of the national football team for the World Cup qualifiers from September 20. Nepal is playing three home games at Dasharath Stadium under the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers. Out of the three games, Nepal is competing against Chinese Taipei on September 8 and Australia five days later. Nepal, which is in Group B, is scheduled to play against Jordan on October 11 in the final match.
Nepal in Group B is in the fourth position with 3 points. Australia topped the group with 12 points. Kuwait and Jordan are in second and third place with 10 points each. Scoreless Chinese Taipei is in fifth place.
In the first match of the selection competition, Nepal lost 7-0 to Kuwait and in the second match, it lost 2-0 to Chinese Taipei. In the third match, Nepal defeated Australia 5-0 and in the fourth match, Jordan defeated 3-0.
